Jasmine Catering was invited to serve up a buffet and hors d’oeuvres at Naomi’s husband’s 70th birthday party. However, it was a dual celebration. The pair had been married 40 years but had never had a real wedding. So they broke out the food and dance moves, invited all their friends, and started up the music. They celebrated life and love in the same night – now there is a pair if we have ever seen one.


The party was at the Berkeley Yacht Club out on the water with a view of the bay and the lovely city of San Francisco. Circulating prior to the buffet opening were some piping hot and flavorful hors d’oeuvres. Among these were Portabella Mushroom Quesadillas stuffed with melted mozzarella, scallions, toasted almonds with a roasted tomato relish on top.

This appetizer was brie and onion bruschetta set atop a toasted baguette slice with a dash of fresh thyme.


The buffet was a spread of crisp salad tossed with toasted walnuts, pears, and burgundy beets. We served up an almond crusted salmon, chicken breast sautéed in white wine, jeweled rice with middle eastern spice and caramelized onions, and our celebrated oven roasted veggies.
